Vivienne Poy, National Campaign Chair of Chinese Canadians for the Canadian Museum for Human Rights, is pleased to announce that their goal of raising $2 million in support of the "Breaking The Silence Gallery," in the Canadian Museum for Human Rights, opening in Winnipeg in September, has been reached.
Recognition will be given near the entrance to the gallery as "Generously Supported by the Chinese Canadian Community."
"On behalf of all campaign chairs who were recruited to support this effort across Canada, I sincerely wish to thank all donors and volunteers for their generosity and hard work. " says Poy.
As of July 31, we have donations and pledges total over $2,036,000.00.
The Canadian Museum for Human Rights (CMHR) is the first museum solely dedicated to the evolution, celebration and future of human rights. The CMHR's aim is to build not only a national hub for human rights learning and discovery, but a new era of global human rights leadership. Creating inspiring encounters with human rights, the Museum will engage Canadians and international visitors in an immersive, interactive experience that offers both the inspiration and tools to make a difference in the lives of others. The Museum will welcome visitors as partners on a journey to erase barriers and create meaningful, lasting change. The CMHR is the first national museum to be built in nearly half a century, and the first outside the National Capital Region. The Museum will open its doors in September 2014, and begin a new conversation focused on building a strong future for Canada and the world.
